Welcome to Golby Family Farm

Howdy!

We’re Brandon and Evelyn

and together with our five kids, we are Golby Family Farm.

Our farm is located west of Highway 764, just inside the County of Barrhead, on the banks of the Pembina River. It’s the original Golby homestead, purchased by Bert and Fannie (Brandon’s great-grandparents) in 1926. It has remained in the family, and been passed down through the generations. We feel so privileged to continue the family tradition of working with this land.

a little history

Just like Granny

Granny Fannie was well known for her generosity and sharing the bounty of her garden. As the story goes, she would always insist that her guests take something from her garden when they visited.

We are inspired by her passion for gardening and continue her legacy of sharing its delights with others.

Lovin’ farm life

Though neither of us grew up on a farm, our childhoods were spent in gardens.

Brandon’s appreciation for the taste of fresh garden goodies came from helping his mom in her huge back yard garden while he was growing up. He also visited the farm often and loved going on adventures through the woods, or for a paddle down the river on sunny summer days.

Evelyn’s Dad had a passion for growing and turned their whole front yard into a garden with flowers, veggies and an apple tree. She enjoyed helping, experimenting with growing various plants and sitting out on the front steps on the summer evenings, breathing in the stimulating scents of the garden.

We got married in 2007 and started working on the next generation of Golbys shortly after; now there are seven of us!

We always had a small garden, but in 2018 we revived Grannie Fannie’s old garden at the farm and took our first steps into market gardening. Since then we’ve expanded the garden every year; we now have over 2 acres of cultivated ground, plus a 300 square foot passive green house and have relocated to live on the property.

Our commitment to you

We really do take pride in producing our vegetables in a way that is sustainable and natural. We grow our vegetables without pesticides or artificial fertilizers. We use very little machinery, growing and harvesting by hand using low environmental impact methods (like netting, hand weeding, compost, low tillage etc). These practices don’t disturb the natural processes and ensure that our produce is as organic as possible.

Feed your family the freshest produce, picked hours before it’s in your hands.
